Description
What is it?
The pressure sensitive fabric is a conductive material which lowers the resistance by squeezing it. At the same time it is completely breathable and therefore ideal for sensor textiles. For example you only have to connect the top and bottom side of the piezoresistive fabric with silver yarn and you will get a pressure sensor. The resistance of the textile will be without load around 100 Ohm and with 6kg/cm² it lowers to 20 Ohm.
Ideas: occupancy detection, smart shoes, connection of smart textiles
Product compatibility
With the WEARIC expansion board and a Nano V3.0 Atmel Atmega328 controller it is very easy to connect the textile pressure sensor to start immediately with the execution of your project. Another very easy way to evaluate the signal of the sensor is a voltage devider. More Infos you find in the datasheet of the pressure sensor. – Make it!
Additional functionalities
The piezoresistive textile can also be used for EMC shielding or as a large area electrode in your next Smart Textiles project. Do it! make it! wear it!
